November 10, 2019 - Dylan Knowles Scores Senoia Victory in Red Clay Series 2019 Finale
1The Red Clay Series made their first ever trip to Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia on Saturday night. Twenty-eight cars signed in for the event. The Gumbo would prove tricky for the out of towners but provided a good mix of competition as the night went on.

Qualifying saw Seth Wimpey set Boyd Bilt Fabrication fast time overall and out of group one. Group two saw Michael Page setting fast time. Seth Wimpey, Michael Page, Dylan Knowles, Spencer Singleton, Jamie Nicholson Jr. and Craig Scott would make the quick six for the #FATBOYRACING Dash for Cash.

Booger Brooks sat on the pole of the first heat race with Jason Turner to his outside. Dalton Benefield, Josh Cox, Chad Wallace, Derek Franks, Chris Hough, Parris Simmons, Jacob Parris, Sam Carter and Hunter Worley completed the line up for heat one. Brooks took the lead from the start and did not give it back, giving him the seventh-starting spot for the feature. Dalton Benefield, Parris Simmons, Josh Cox, and Chad Wallace would also transfer into the feature.

Mckenna Nelms sat on the pole for the second heat race with Brandon Baxter to her outside. Matthew Knight, Cody Overton, Dylan Armstrong, Brandon McDaniel, Shane Payton, Ted Minnix, John Strickland, Wesley Scott and Scott Shelton made up the rest of heat number two.  Nelms also jumped out front on the start and set sail to pick up the heat win. This gave Nelms the eighth-starting spot in the feature. Matthew Knight, Cody Overton, Brandon McDaniel, Scott Shelton and Brandon Baxter would transfer to the feature as well.

The Last Chance race saw Derek Franks and Shane Payton on the front row. Franks, Payton, Parris, Shelton and Hough would transfer to the feature. Wesley Scott relied on a points provisional to take the final spot in the feature.

Michael Page and Dylan Knowles brought the field to the green. Page got the whole shot getting into turn one but the start was called back for Scott Shelton spinning in turn one. On the second attempt page would again get the lead getting into turn one.  Page lead the next six laps before Knowles would pass him for the lead, after Seth Wimpey and Knowles raced side by side for the first three laps.

Wesley Scott pulled in on lap seven with lingering issues from contact with the wall in the last chance race. The field stayed two and three wide as the top three started to pull away. On lap nine the caution waved for the first time for Chad Wallace stopping on the back stretch with mechanical issues.

On the restart Knowles retained his lead and again started to pull away from the field. Jason Turner brought out the next caution on lap 16 with a flat tire. Booger Brooks started his march to the front as he was in third on the restart. Knowles would again jump out to the lead and being pulling away from the field.

The caution flew again on lap 21 for Braxton Barber and Shane Payton making contact in turn four. Cody Overton broke the top-five by this time as well, he started twelfth.  On the restart Mckenna Nelms, Brandon Mcdaniel, Scott Shelton and Josh Cox would tangle going down the front straightaway. This brought out the red flag as all cars would come to rest against the wall. Nelms was transported to the hospital for possible collar bone injuries; she was checked out at the hospital and released with no serious injuries.

Knowles again jumped out to the lead on the final restart and did not look back en-route to the checkered flag. Page, Brooks, Overton and Seth Wimpey went single file as the rest of field would race two and three wide for the remaining laps. Spencer Singleton, Jamie Nicholson Jr., Parris Simmons, Dalton Benefield and Chris Hough rounded out the top ten.

The top three passed post race tech and submitted tire samples. All results are unofficial until tire samples come back from testing.
