May 14, 2021 - Green Wires Red Clay Series 602 Late Models Series Field at Tri-County

Jake Green became another first-time winner with the Red Clay Series on Friday night at North Carolina's Tri-County Raceway.

Green picked up the $1,000 for leading all 30-laps at the bullring. He complete a clean sweep of the night by topping qualifying, heat race action, and the main event.

Jake Green made his birthday even sweeter by picking up $1000 for his win Friday night at Tri-County.

17 cars signed in for action at ,“The County”, Tri-County Racetrack in Brasstown, North Carolina Friday night for the second stop on the Southern Region’s schedule. Three cars broke into the 13 second range with Jake Green setting fast time with a 13.892 elapse time. Nick Sellers was second quick with a 13.979 and Dante Curtis was third quickest with a 13.991.

Heat one was led to the green by Jake Green and Dante Curtis. Curtis took the early lead with Green in tow. Green made a move turn two pulling up beside Curtis down the back stretch. The pair would make slight contact just before getting into turn three. Green came out the victor and took the lead. Curtis maintained and held on for second. Green then would go unchallenged to pick up the heat win.

Heat two was to the green by Nick sellers and Seth Wimpey. Wimpey rocketed off two turn using the high side to build momentum and cruise to the heat win. Bobby Elkins made good on his heat and passed two cars and finishing third in the heat.

Green and Wimpey brought the field to the green flag, but it took three attempts to get the race started. As a result, Caden Walston, Rickey Smith, Clinton Raper and Bobby Elkins would retire from the event only 4 laps into the event. Wimpey was sent to the back for stopping during one of cautions, this would set up a charge from the back with sliders and cushion blasting. Jake Green set sail on the field and built a 3 second lead over Nick sellers as the field went green for 22 laps. During this stretch Dante Curtis despite his promising start earlier in the evening retired with power steering issues. Reese Stillwell also retired from the event early on. Seth Wimpey however was putting on show for the fans as he started his charge from the back. On lap he started 13th and by the time next caution come out. He was up 7th. On the final run to the checked Wimpey picked up where he left off and picked off 4 more spots including a drag race down the front stretch with Jacob Hamby to claim third at the stripe. Jake Green made good on how good his car was with a 2 second lead when he took the checkered. This was Jake Greens second RCS series win and first on the year with the series.
